How do I back up my chats before installing the new version of Pigeon?Updated 2 hours ago
To create a backup of your conversations, follow these steps:
- Open Pigeon > Settings > Chats > Chat Backup.
- Select Turn on to enable chat backups.
- A 30-digit backup passphrase will be displayed. Make sure to write it down and store it securely, as you will need it to restore your conversations.
- Wait a few minutes for the backup to complete.
- Once the backup is ready, you will see "Last created: Now" on the screen.
After successfully creating your backup, you can uninstall the previous version of Pigeon by navigating to:
Main Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage > Pigeon
You can then install the latest version of Pigeon and restore your existing backup during the onboarding process.
Important:
- If Pigeon has already expired, it is no longer possible to create a new backup. Backups must be created before the application expires.
- If you created a backup before Pigeon expired, you can still restore it when installing the new version.
- Uninstalling Pigeon does not delete existing backup files stored on your MP02.
- Keep your 30-digit backup passphrase safe. You will need it to restore your conversations.
