Major maintenance update introducing a rebase to Signal 8.26.4, along with stability improvements, UI refinements, and bug fixes.

Due to significant changes in the Signal codebase, substantial portions of Pigeon have been rewritten and adapted to ensure compatibility with the MP02.

Changes

• Version update: Updated to v2.0.0034.
• Base version: Pigeon is now based on Signal 8.26.4 (previously Signal 8.11.3). Due to significant changes introduced by the upstream release, several components have been rewritten and optimized to improve compatibility, stability, and the overall user experience.
• User Interface: Various interface improvements have been implemented to improve navigation and usability on the MP02's non-touchscreen display.

Fixes

• Set-up (CAPTCHA): Improved CAPTCHA interaction by introducing drag-and-drop support using the MP02 physical keypad. Users can now select an element by pressing 5, move it using the 2/4/6/8 keys, and release it by pressing 5 again.
• Calling: Fixed an issue where the end-call button would no longer work after leaving Pigeon during an active call. Calls are now automatically terminated when exiting the application.
• Backup restoration: Fixed issues affecting backup detection and restoration during onboarding. Users can now successfully restore an existing backup when setting up Pigeon.
• General: Additional stability, compatibility, and interface improvements following the rebase to Signal 8.26.4.

Known Issues

• Link devices: This functionality is currently unavailable. It is being rewritten and will be reintroduced in a future release.
• Restore procedure (UI feedback): No visual feedback is shown during the restore process. After entering the PIN, the restore starts and may take time depending on the amount of data. Please wait for completion and do not repeat the operation.
• Voice messages: The duration of a voice message is not displayed while recording.
• Conversations: Tagging functionality is not available while typing messages.
• Calling: Calls may drop when answered directly on speakerphone.

Installation Instructions

Important: Due to the extensive changes introduced in this release, we recommend uninstalling the previous version of Pigeon before installing v2.0.0034.

1. Open Pigeon and create a backup of your conversations.
2. Go to Settings > Applications > Manage > Pigeon.
3. Uninstall the previous version of Pigeon.
4. Install the latest version, Pigeon v2.0.0034.
5. During onboarding, select the option to restore an existing backup if you wish to recover your conversations.
6. Complete the onboarding process.

Note: Uninstalling Pigeon does not delete existing backup files stored on the MP02. If a backup was previously created, it will remain available on the device and can be restored during the onboarding process.
